great gifts for mothers day

Get your mum something she'll love this Mothers Day

How do you show appreciation to your mum? A big bunch of flowers, a special day out, a thoughtful gift or cooking her favourite meal?
Thinking of something original to do can get a bit hard so here is our ideas of the best ways to treat your mum.
This year Mother's Day in the UK is on Sunday 30th of March.  It is an ideal opportunity to really show all the mums in your life how much you appreciate them by doing something special that shows you are thinking of them. Plus if your mum is anything like mine you'll be in big trouble if you forget!

So here is our round up of the best Cornish Mothers Day gifts to get your mum this year....

Why not get her something really cheesy? And no we don't mean a novelty mug or a pair of socks with your face on them. We mean the gouda stuff, something brie-illiant that'll make her feel like the big cheese. Ok we will stop now! But a nice cheese hamper is something she'll definitely enjoy! Cornwall produces some of the worlds best cheese - we really mean that we have 2 World Champion cheeses in Kern and Cornish Blue. Check out all our Cheese & Deli Hampers here.

Enjoy a Spa Day together: You have a few options for this depending on how hardy your mum is.  Treat your mum to a luxurious spa day, complete with massages, facials, and relaxation treatments.  We recommend St Michaels Spa in Falmouth or The Headland Spa in Newquay for the full hydrotherapy experience.  They both do locals offers at various times. Or check out Kiln Sauna and book a slot in their sauna at Gylly beach for an apres dip warm up!

Cook Her Dinner: If your mum enjoys food considering cooking her a delicious meal to thank her for all her love and care. You can get fantastic fresh ingredients delivered to your door from us at The Cornish Food Box Company from fresh seafood to delicious grass fed steaks, and locally grown veggies. If cooking really isn't our thing and you would like to take her out then for some great seafood then we would recommend Mackerel Sky in Newlyn or Sam's in Fowey, Polkerris or Truro.

Leap in to Spring by getting her something for the garden: Bring a touch of greenery into your mum's home with something lovely for the house or garden that will bring her joy year round. Trevenson Moor has a great selection of house plants plus everything you need to take care of them or The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery has some fabulous magnolias amongst other plants. If you simply want to enjoy the beauty of the magnolias together then why not visit Caerhays Garden to see them in bloom.

Sweet Treats: Treat your mum to some truly delicious luxurious treats that she wouldn't indulge herself with.  Chocolarder produce wonderful handmade sustainable chocolate which is a truly luxurious experience. Choose from handmade truffles or one of their bars.  Da Bara Bakery make what are probably the worlds best cinnamon buns. Get a set of these buttery buns and she will be made up.....don't expect her to share through they really are too good for that!

Learn something new together: Spending time doing something together is a lovely way to create memories. Why not get your hands dirty with a pottery workshop?  Mary is a fantastic teacher who makes ceramics inspired by Cornwall from her workshop in Kehelland. Or learn to carve stone with Ellie in Penryn.  Much of Ellie's work focuses on the human figure.
