Here are some frequently asked questions about our delivery service.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: CORONAVIRUS INFORMATION

In these uncertain times we want to reassure you that the whole team at Cornish Food Box, and our local supply chain of farmers, bakers, butchers, fishermen and more, will do everything we can to make sure you get your deliveries of food as usual.

By choosing to continue buying local at this time you are supporting hundreds of small rural businesses in your community.

Firstly we would like to reassure our customers that we are taking all the necessary action as recommended by Public Health England.

The health and wellbeing of our team and our customers is our main priority and we will continue to closely follow all government advice.

We are working as usual but cannot foresee where there may be shortages in the coming months - we will amend our website as required should this become an issue.

If items you have ordered are not available at short notice we will provide you with a voucher code for use on another online order within 12 months. 

We are asking everyone to help us and let us know a safe place to leave your order as we are not expecting our drivers to have any contact with customers if at all possible.

WHERE WE DELIVER

We deliver across Cornwall and the UK every week.

We have our own fleet of refrigerated vans for local deliveries, and use internally chilled boxes for deliveries by courier.

We deliver using our own vans to certain areas on certain days. Outside of this time we work with local partners.

HOW TO COLLECT


Collection is from our Redruth warehouse ONLY.

General collection is available Wednesday - Friday 10am - 4pm.

If you are visiting on holiday and require a later collection please call us on 01872 211533 (ext 1) and we will organise this with you.

WHEN WE DELIVER

As a rule our standard delivery days are Wednesday - Saturday.

If you need a delivery on another day of the week please call us and we will organise your delivery for you if it is possible.

 

WHEN DO I NEED TO ORDER BY?

We have a standard lead time of 3 days between placing your order and having a delivery.

For example: Order by 6pm on Wednesday for delivery on Saturday.

If you have missed the deadline please contact us and we will do our very best to help.

During busy times like the summer and Christmas it may not be possible to get you a delivery slot.

We have lead times because we work with lots of small suppliers and everything is freshly prepared so they do need time to prepare your food.

 

BOOKING A TIME SLOT

We DO NOT operate a timed delivery service. 

We work on a system of rounds and you will be slotted into that round depending on the number of orders.

If you are coming down on holiday please make sure you leave information about your accommodation provider.

We will contact them and organise the delivery for you and arrange for the delivery to be put away in the accommodation if we are able to access the property but please note that during the Covid-19 pademic we are unable to enter your accommodation.

Our wonderful delivery drivers will pop your box inside the door for you if we have been given permission to do so.

In the case of deliveries for CLASSIC COTTAGES guests: Please leave us the contact number of the house owner / housekeeper and we will make the arrangements.

 

DELIVERY COSTS

For most of Mid and West Cornwall the minimum order is £25, with delivery starting from £3.99.

For the Far West, further East, Plymouth and the Devon borders delivery starts from £6.50.

Outside of Cornwall, Plymouth and the Devon borders - we charge £9 for next day chilled delivery.

Prices for Saturday deliveries do vary depending on the delivery postcode.

We do not normally deliver on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays as some fresh items are unavailable these days. If you want a delivery on one of these days please call or email us to arrange.

DELIVERY CHARGES & MINIMUM ORDER LEVELS DO VARY DEPENDING ON POSTCODE AND DELIVERY DAY.

HOW WE DELIVER

We deliver ourselves using refrigerated vans, and your order will come packed in one our returnable boxes.

Leave your box out and we will collect it when we next deliver to you.

Boxes delivered by our own vehicles are not chilled once they have been left with you, so if you are concerned about fresh produce being left please leave us a cool box or a suitable place to leave the delivery.

If your order is being delivered out of Cornwall it will be delivered by a courier and chilled items will be packed to stay cool for 36hrs.

We ask you to let us know where to leave your box if you aren't going to be at home. A shed or open garage are ideal. Your box will be left safe if you are not at home to accept delivery on your chosen delivery day. Fresh food boxes cannot be taken back to the depot for collection at a later date.

 

HOLIDAY COTTAGE DELIVERY

Most holiday cottage deliveries will be unpacked and put away in the kitchen prior to your arrival.

Please let us know where you are staying, who you have booked through, and the property key code if you have one. We will arrange everything else for you.

****UPDATE*****

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we are not able to offer our unpacking service at this time. We will liase with your agency or owner about delivery.

If you are not able to be available for delivery we can pack into chilled boxes which can be left safe for your arrival. Please contact us for more information.

We charge an additional £5 if you require a box to be packed with ice for you.

PLEASE NOTE:

We do not offer a timed delivery service - we work on a delivery round system and delivery times will vary depending on the number of drops we have that day.

We believe this is best for the environment of our beautiful county, and helps ease congestion on our roads, especially at peak times.
