Description / Cornish Whole Lemon Sole 300g
A small flat fish with a tiny head and mouth that lives on stony and gravelly seabeds, from depths of 20m to 200m.
Despite the name, lemon sole doesn't actually taste anything like lemon, but rather has a sweet, delicate flavour. The name instead, refers to the shape of the fish, which is lemon-like. The fish isn't actually a sole either, but a flounder.
It has delicate, sweet white flesh and is best cooked simply, either grilled or fried, and served with a light sauce. Lemon sole is readily available all year round from our boats, but is best from July until February.
We sell this as a whole fish with its tasty skin on perfect for baking.
Landed fresh on the Cornish coast, this fish is a favourite for its light taste and versatility in the kitchen.
Lemon sole is best cooked simply to showcase its natural flavour — try pan-frying in butter, grilling with a squeeze of lemon, or baking with fresh herbs. Ideal for a light, elegant main course.
Serving Suggestion: Serve with seasonal vegetables and a wedge of lemon for a fresh, simple dish, or pair with a white wine sauce for extra indulgence.
Caught and landed in Cornwall.
